Bulky Bob’s shops provide thousands of “pre-loved” furniture items at great prices to low-income families
- “Pre-loved” furniture helps families to create a home and to avoid going into debt
- Customers referred to us by a network of support agencies receive discounts and free delivery
- Bulky Bob’s gives essential emergency furniture items to help people in crisis situations
- Partner agencies, such as Citizens Advice Bureau, provide in-store help to our customers
One of the fundamental aims of Bulky Bob’s is to provide high quality, low priced ‘pre-loved’ furniture to low income families. For many Bulky Bob’s customers, the only alternative would be purchasing new furniture on high interest, long-term credit. Bulky Bob’s parent charity has been involved in the distribution of furniture to those in need for more than 20 years.
Bulky Bob’s furniture stores are pleasantly appointed and well run, offering a range of discounts to those in receipt of benefit and also manage the free distribution of furniture to families in crisis. Bulky Bob’s also partners with advice organisations to provide help and support to our customers on a range of issues including employment, housing, debt, health and benefits advice.
Bulky Bob’s works with local support organisations to ensure that essential furniture items are available free of charge to people in crisis, such as families fleeing domestic violence, young people leaving care and ex-homeless people.
Bulky Bob’s also works with other furniture and white goods projects on a local and national level. These partnerships may see Bulky Bob’s giving some or all of the reusable furniture to a local project to augment their supplies and make them more sustainable.
"Bulky Bob’s store is a place where customers with not a lot of money to spend can buy really good furniture. To low-income shoppers Bulky Bob’s means choice, quality and most importantly it’s about making your money go further and staying out of debt."
Peter Tyson – Citizens Advice Bureau
